Web URL goal tracking is the most reliable option because it is only reached after completing a goal

Choosing your web tracking goal

Website conversion goal-tracking options each provide a unique tracking solution to support your buyer journey.

Web URL is used for pages that are on the same domain and are only used for form submissions. The Web URL page is only reached after a lead is submitted, which means it's reliable and does not need to be updated. Set the Web URL and it's ready to go. The Web URL is also the easiest option to use, you can add the Web URL page to your Pathmonk account during set up.

  1. Login to the Pathmonk CRM: crm.pathmonk.com
  2. Click Intelligence
  3. Select Website Goals
  4. Click the green plus (+)Add new Goal
  5. Choose a name for your Goal
  6. Click Set Tracking Method
  7. Click Web URL Goal
  8. Add the URL
  9. Click Save Goal

Web URL options:
Web URL tracking can be used for two possible scenarios, pages and parameters.  If the Web URL page is a different page, the final destination URL would be added to the field (Example 1). If the page stays the same but parameters are added to the page, the tracking goal will vary based on the content that is added to the web URL (Examples 2 or 3)

Using Web Page URLs

Parameter URLs

  • Example 2: Query parameter with exact match

In the case of an exact query parameter, the URL for the conversion goal to be tracked will be added as the Web URL

Original URL: https://website.com/page/signup.php?sptepID=1&sid=1

Web URL: https://website.com/page/signup.php?sptepID=1&sid=1

  • Example 3: Query parameter with regular expression (last parameter only)

Web URLs utilizing a query parameter can add the URL of the conversion

Original URL: https://website.com/page/signup.php?sptepID=1&sid=1
Web URL: https://website.com/page/signup.php?sptepID=1&sid=*

***Note for all Web URL Page URLs***

Pages used for Web URL tracking must have the same footer on the page as all other web pages.  The lack of a footer prevents the snippet from tracking conversions on the Web URL being used for the goal.
