Pathmonk Intelligence Data Does Not Match Other Analytics Sources

Common reasons Pathmonk Intelligence data may not align with other sources

When comparing the data from Pathmonk to other analytics sources, the data may not match exactly. There are a few reasons that will explain the cause of your data being different.

  • Bots

Pathmonk identifies a higher number of bots than other sources and this can have an impact on the monthly visitor count.  Pathmonk does not count bots in any buyer journey data and if there is a significant number of bots on a site, the numbers within Pathmonk will be different.

  • A/B Testing
  • Pathmonk accounts are created with a default A/B testing percentage, which varies based on account size. The results of your analytics may differ due to the A/B testing settings. Adjusting your Pathmonk settings to include all visitors and not just those who do or do not see Pathmonk will provide a total number of visitors.
  • Activating or changing the A/B testing splits redistributes the visits. Visitors who saw Pathmonk before the A/B testing criteria were changed will be associated with the non-Pathmonk views. For this reason, Pathmonk does not advise changing the A/B test results.

  • Unique visitors

Pathmonk tracks unique visitors to your site, not total visitors.  A returning visitor is not counted as new, even if they arrive via a new web search session.  They will be identified as returning visitor and their session will be added to any previous activity.

  • Pathmonk-only Pixel

If the pixel installed on the website is tracking Pathmonk-only conversions, the data on the report will reflect only visitors who were shown Pathmonk micro-experiences instead of every visitor to the website.
