Common reasons Pathmonk is not connecting to your website

Installing the Pathmonk snippet is fast and easy but sometimes, Pathmonk may not appear as expected

For instructions on installing your snippet, you can read our installation article

After the change has been pushed to your site and the Pathmonk micro-experiences are set to visible, if you are unable to see the micro-experiences, here are a few things you can check.

Most common reasons Pathmonk does not load on a page

  • Problem: Snippet is not installed in the footer for every webpage

Solution: Pathmonk should be installed in the footer of your website, however, the footer must be consistent across all of the pages on your site to be visible on all of the pages.  A page without a footer will not be able to display the micro-experiences.

  • Problem: Snippet is not in the correct location

Solution: Depending on the platform your website is hosted on, the snippet may not be able to go directly into the footer.  There may be a plug-in available that needs to be installed to place the footer, or, you may need to add the snippet to the body of the website if a footer is not an option.

  • Problem: The changes have not been pushed to the site

Solution: Platforms offer different steps to not only add and save changes but to push those changes to the live website.  Ensure the snippet has been saved in the footer, or designated location, and the changes have been pushed to the live site.

  • Problem: Incorrect Google Tag Manager account

Solution: For accounts that use multiple Google Tag Manager accounts, it is important to confirm the account for the website is the account to the snippet is added.  To confirm, compare the Google Tag Manager account listed on your add a tag page with the Google Tag Manager account on your website.

  • Problem: Website errors

Solution: The individual and security settings of a webpage may create errors that prevent Pathmonk from loading correctly. To confirm, inspect your website and look for errors that include Pathmonk.

  • A/B testing
Solution: If A/B testing is active on your site, your visit may fall into the group that is not shown the Pathmonk micro-experiences.  To see the micro-experiences, you will need to reload the site as a new visitor.
